Finn biking with Guzzi

Day 11 and stuck, still in Zakopane. Rainy day and I decided to stay 'till tomorrow. I think I go downstairs with laptop to do some work and to edit videos.

Day 10. Yet another day in Zakopane, my favorite place. A sunny day. I have so great temptation to go up into mountains, but my heel has a blister and is bleeding. Putting plaster and hoping for the best I went for a 13 km walk to the mountains. Pain, but it was beautiful out there. Heel damaged.

Day 9 and hanging around in Zakopane. Mixed weather, rainy. Zakopane is prospering and changing year after year. It is struggling to keep its authentic mountain culture. The architecture remains, but as a new rubbish there are "kepabs" and "pitsas" spoiling the scene.

Day 8. Mountains! Driving over Karpathians from Poprad to Zakopane. Great weather in the morning and the best curvy roads. There is still snow on the peaks. Soon Zakopane went into clouds and it started raining lightly. Chilling-out in city center.

Day 7. Towards Slovakia and Poprad, town on the southern side of Karpathians. Quiet sunday roads today, both highways and smaller mountain roads. Nice ride, good weather and finally the mighty mountains at sight. Short ride in the evening to Vysoké Tatry.

Day 6. Wet and cold day to ride. First, highway towards Rzeszow and then back-roads further south. One road was in so bad condition, that I had to turn back. And some military helicopters up there, coming from the front lines. Suddenly, hills appeared, occasionally very steep and long climbs, meaning I entered Karpathians! Eventually I ended up to a hotel in Klimkówka, near Slovakian border.

Day 5. Heading towards south on a boring highway. Then finally a crossroad to south-east. Curvy roads, village after village, fields and meadows. No restaurants, no petrol stations.. Treblinka -sign on roadside !! Is that concentration camp here? Treblinka was a termination camp, some 900.000 were "processed" there. Ending up to Radzyń Podlaski and a cheap room to stay overnight. 100 zl only.

Day 4. In Suwałki. Driving around scenic countryside roads with Guzzi and recording lake views. Working in the restaurant's table, laptop in front and beer on the side. It was about "finalising a long-term business" and to get paid. So let's see will my bank account be filled-up tomorrow.

Day 3. Lithuania's truck station was left behind in the morning breeze. Then across the endless fields, over the Suwałki corridoor and finally to Suwałki in midday heat +25⁰C. Business meeting on the road (failed) and otherwise pretty "straight-forward" again, enen more than yesterday. Hotel is just great, but no lake view. Must drive to see the lakes (a Finn visiting lakes, how about that). Had to see the waters, where Polański directed the "Nóż w wodzie" (Veitsi vedessä) in 1962.

Day 2. First from Pärnu to Riga, Latvia. Then crossing Väinäjoki and finally to Panevėžys in central Lithuania. The best weather, +15 ⁰C. And "straight-forward driving". Finally the video camera was repaired, during the maintenance break at Latvian border. Long story short : bike extensive vibrations cause battery contact issue and camera resets occasionally. So,ensure the battery contact. A true road-side hotel with a parking place for lorries and a Hesburger for snacks.

Day 1. Waking up early, last-minute adjustments and packing. Then starting up Guzzi engine and to the road. Nice morning sunshine, fair amount of traffic, nothing special on the road, camera battery again low (?) and camera switching off all the time. Driving through Albertinkatu, Erottaja and Esplanadi to Katajanokka. Traffic jam, but on time in ferry. Opening the throttle and soon in Pärnu and my favorite hotel. Great sunset.

Sunday 18th. I guess I'm leaving tomorrow morning and need to do some lazy packing. To nail the start, I booked a ferry ticket to Tallinn. Viking line's schedule was the best option, so 35 eur ticket bought. Damn, that ferry leaves from Katajanokka, which means I need to drive through Helsinki city centre during rush-hour ! Okay, mistake done -- have to wake up one hour earlier.

Sunday 11th. Mother's day and a longer cruising with Moto Guzzi to Korppoo. Bike runs well and great sceneries today.

Thursday 8th. Time to leave something behind at work, since today is a projects closing check-up. Projects advanced pretty nicely in budget and schedule, and customer should be just pleased. This time there was some boring and even filthy aspects as well. So now finishing the contractor's job with mixed feelings: saying farewell to my so dear workmates. And closing door for some toxic culture.
